I’m Miss Sterling! I am so excited to be the 7th grade science teacher at Farrell B. Howell ECE-8 School this year. I was born and raised in Jamaica and graduated from the University of the West Indies and Mico Teachers’ College. I taught high school Science in Jamaica for nine(9) years, five(5) years in North Carolina and 5 years in Denver Public schools.

I enjoy going on road trips to see national parks and all of the wonderful mountain towns here in Colorado and other states. Most of all going to the beaches back home in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I also enjoy working out in the gym and spending time with my two children. I am very passionate about science. I hold myself and all my students to high expectations. I am committed to challenging and supporting them every day. In science class, my students work in partner teams or co-operative groups while I guide and facilitate the learning process with modeling and questioning. We do many types of investigations and have lots of class discussions (and arguments) based on our observations and scientific evidence. I am looking forward to learning with you!
My favorite quote is, “The heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept, were upwards toiling through the night.”
