Mi nombre es Gerardo Gomez y en este año escolar estaré al frente del grupo de quinto grado ELA-S aquí en esta gran institución académica que es la escuela primaria Farrell B. Howell.
Les platicaré un poco acerca de mí, soy originario de Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua México. Tengo 10 años de experiencia en la docencia en diferentes grados desde kinder hasta universidad. Soy egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez del instituto de ciencias sociales y administración, en la Carrera de Licenciatura en Educación. Decidí estudiar esta licenciatura porque siempre he pensado que la educación en todas sus formas, es la base de toda sociedad, es pilar en el desarrollo social de toda generación. Además, siendo un estudiante tuve la oportunidad de conocer el trabajo que realizan algunos distritos para apoyar a niños migrantes o hijos de padres migrantes para su inclusión en el sistema educativo de este país. Esto me llevó a interesarme en la educación culturalmente responsiva y educación bilingüe, preparándome en esta área y buscando oportunidades aquí en el distrito escolar de Denver. Considero que es de suma importancia que nuestros niños latinos desarrollen el potencial con el que cuentan para su éxito académico y futuro personal.
Para concluir, me gustaría platicarles un poco de mis intereses personales. Me gusta viajar, conocer culturas de diferentes países y su gastronomía. Hasta hoy he conocido casi todo Estados Unidos, Canadá, Belice, Colombia y por supuesto México. También en mi tiempo libre me gusta leer, investigar y trabajar sobre los automóviles. Mi comida favorita es toda la comida mexicana por su gran variedad de sabores, colores y recetas. Es un gusto poder ser parte de esta gran escuela.
My name is Gerardo Gomez and this school year I will be leading the fifth-grade ELA-S group here at this great academic institution that is Farrell B. Howell Elementary School.
I will tell you a little about myself, I am originally from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua Mexico. I have 10 years of experience in teaching in different grades from kindergarten to university. I am a graduate of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez from the Institute of Social Sciences and Administration, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I decided to study this degree because I have always thought that education in all its forms is the basis of every society, it is a pillar in the social development of every generation. Also, being a student I had the opportunity to learn about the work that some districts do to support migrant children or children of migrant parents for their inclusion in the educational system of this country. This led me to become interested in culturally responsive education and bilingual education, preparing myself in this area and looking for opportunities here in the Denver school district. I believe that it is of the utmost importance that our Latino children develop the potential they have for their academic and personal future success.
To conclude, I would like to tell you a little about my personal interests. I like to travel and learn about the cultures of different countries and their gastronomy. Until today I have known almost all of the United States, Canada, Belize, Colombia, and of course Mexico. Also in my spare time, I like to read, research, and work on automobiles. My favorite food is all Mexican food because of its wide variety of flavors, colors, and recipes. It is a pleasure to be part of this great school.
