Kamoy Sterling

Kamoy Sterling

7th/8th Grade Teacher (Science)

7th Grade, 8th Grade, Classroom Teachers, Junior Academy

I’m Miss Sterling! I am so excited to be the 7th and 8th grade science teacher at Farrell B. Howell ECE-8 School this year. I was born and raised in Jamaica and graduated from the University of the West Indies and Mico Teachers’ College. I taught high school Science in Jamaica for nine(9) years and five(5) years in North Carolina.

I enjoy going on road trips to see national parks and all of the wonderful mountain towns here in Colorado and other states. Most of all going to the beaches back home in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I also enjoy working out in the gym and spending time with my daughter who is 9 years old. I am very passionate about science. I hold myself and all my students to high expectations and I am committed to challenging and supporting them every day. In science class, my students work in partner teams or co-operative groups while I guide and facilitate the learning process with modeling and questioning. We do many types of investigations and have lots of class discussions (and arguments) based on our observations and scientific evidence.  I am looking forward to learning with you!

My favorite quote is ‘The heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept, were upwards toiling through the night’.

Hey y’all! My name is Mr. Gabalis and I am excited to be part of the 8th-grade team at Howell! I have been teaching ELA for six years and this is my fifth year in the Montbello area! I am originally from Roscommon, Michigan, and studied education at Adrian College. Beyond teaching, I love doing anything that gets me outside; whether it is camping, hiking, biking, skiing, or just taking the dogs for a walk, I am game for all of it! I am looking forward to watching each of you grow as individuals and scholars throughout the year as we prepare for the challenges of high school!
